Course Description

Teaming is a common myth for many interpreters since we typically work solo. We will delve into the art of teaming and how to and not to team effectively. Helpful suggestions will be discussed on when to switch and how to switch. The discussion includes current times interpreting in a remote environment. The course also includes a scenario of what effective and ineffective teaming looks like. Understanding and valuing the importance of a good team is emphasized and a discussion about the results when done well or not. A big question addressed is when to feed or not to feed your team. We will touch on teaming with a CDI (Certified Deaf Interpreter) and how it is necessary to have a pre conference to set the stage for a successful assignment. The intention of this course is to give the interpreting community ideas to use in their own work to be more effective teams.
